This guidebook is intended for non-formal educators working with youth through tennis and other community-based organizations in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Zambia, and South Africa. This guidebook provides background information about the life and legacy of Arthur Ashe and is organized with compelling themes that emerged from his story. These themes align with this project's goals of developing global citizenship, civic engagement, and leadership in today’s youth through the international tennis community.

This resource provides information, examples, and experiential learning opportunities, which include reflective and collaborative activities. Learning activities are designed to build skills in communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership. With attention to social and emotional well-being, these activities offer opportunities for youth to hone their skills with empathy, compassion, and teamwork while building agency for personal growth, social justice, and community service.
